- INSTALL TIME: Vinyl liner pools & fiberglass pools are short, Concrete is very long.
- DESIGN FLEXIBILITY: Vinyl liner & Concrete(aka:shotcrete & Gunite) are very high in custom design shapes, Fiberglass is very limited, with absolutely no design flexibility.
- SERVICE/MAINTENANCE: Maintenance on vinyl liner and fiberglass is low. Concrete pools are very high in maintenance costs.
- ALGAE PRONE: Vinyl & Fiberglass are low, Concrete is very, very high.
- RESTORATION: Replacement of the liner, on a vinyl liner pool, is very easy and inexpensive. Concrete & fiberglass restoration is very high in cost and in some cases impossible.
- DISADVANTAGES: Concrete or Plaster pools are prone to chips, crack, algae, and high chemical costs. Fiberglass is limited in size and shape. It cannot be emptied. The gel-coat breaks down over time. And usually, it cannot be re-gelcoated. It also develops spider-cracks over time and is not warranted against it. With a vinyl liner pool; a liner could tear but it is a snap to fix. Also liners are easy and comparatively inexpensive to replace, and can usually be replaced in one day.
