How Do Salt-Chlorine Generators Work? 1. Water from the pool, containing a small amount of dissoved salt, enters the “Salt Chlorine Generator Cell”, while your pump is running.
2. A small electric charge is applied to eletrolytic plates, inside the “salt cell”, creating a current flow.
3.Chlorine ion is then released as a gas, and then combines with the water coming out of the cell.
4. So, water with pure chlorine is now returned to the pool.
5. This chlorine gas goes into the water, as it returns to the pool, providing a nearly constant source of sanitizer.(Replacing the need for chlorine in the pool, and the storage and adding of chlorine shock by the pool owner.)
