VINYL LINER POOL BUILDER AGAINST CONCRETE POOLS
VINYL LINER POOL BUILDER AGAINST CONCRETE POOLS
VINYL LINER POOL STARTUP:
Once a vinyl liner pool is finished being built, you simply fill the pool with water, turn on the pump and filter, and balance the water with the pool chemicals. This simple process to get the new vinyl liner pool ready for swimming, has no curing time needed. But not so with concrete & plaster pools.
CONCRETE POOL STARTUP:
Startup is much harder with a concrete pool, also called a plaster pool. In the case of plaster pools, the startup procedure is much more involved and difficult. The builder must create an ideal environment for the plaster’s curing process. Opening a pool is one thing, but handling a job of curing newly plastered concrete pools is quite another.
A newly plastered pool is a project yet unfinished: the cementitious material must go through a hydration period in which the plaster cures underwater for about a month. The problem with this is that many conditions must be carefully maintained for the surface, of the newly built concrete pool, to turn out well, But most concrete pool builders don’t stick around to do this. Remember that; most of these concrete/plaster pool builders are gone and don’t have time to stick around for another month to properly startup the newly built pool.
This is the time when the finish is at its most vulnerable to all sorts of defects including irreversible staining, scaling and discoloration. Among the biggest issues arising from the plaster’s own curing by-product is calcium hydroxide, which is released into the water and creates a high PH which in-turn creates the formation of calcium carbonate,or plaster dust. This plaster dust must be regularly brushed from the new plaster surface or it will become scale. And then the pump and filter must be constantly running to continuously filter it out . This causes the PH to rise above 8.3 which causes more plaster dust to form, so one must constantly be lowering the PH with added PH lowering chemicals.
None of this is needed in vinyl liner pool building. The newly built vinyl liner pool is almost instantly ready to use, and the chemical balance process is very simple.

Concrete/Plaster Pools:
Over the years, on a regular basis, one must acid wash the plaster in the concrete pool, which is costly, as much as $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 each time. Pool plaster can typically be expected to last 8 to 15 years. On all concrete/plaster pools, one must totally replace the plaster finish at a cost of many, many, many thousands of dollars.
Vinyl Liner Pools:
Ten to fifteen years later, one must replace only the vinyl liner, at a cost of a couple of thousand dollars, and then fill the pool, add some chemicals, and the pool is back in service in a day or two.
It a simple one or two day process for a vinyl liner pool builder. And the pool will have a beautiful new look with a new vinyl liner & tile design update.
