How to Save Money with Pool Plumbing. With the proper plumbing hydraulics, in your pool’s water pipe system, you will be able to decrease the horsepower of your pool pump to save energy(Money). The lower horsepower pump will actually clean your pool-water better, by more slowly forcing the water through the filter, thus allowing the filter to grab more particles instead of having them pushed through the filter grids or sand media by the higher speed flow of the larger horsepower pump.
