CHINESE VINYL-LINERS CAUSE PROBLEMS
CHINESE VINYL USED BY SOME LINER-MANUFACTURERS CAUSE WRINKLING PROBLEMS IN POOLS. When manufacturers, fabricators and pool installers perform correctly, the vinyl-liner pool can be breathtaking and can mimic the look of custom gunite pools with waterline tile or glass mosaics, at a fraction of the cost.
However, with pool-liners made of off-shore vinyl, pool owners are seeing bad wrinkles develop in liners that are only a few years old. This low-cost alternative to vinyl produced in North America, looks and feels the same as the more expensive North America vinyl, but it is not at all the same.
The issue is calcium carbonate used to reduce cost. In effect, it’s chalk filler that’s cheaper to use than the plasticizers that are used in North American vinyl. If calcium carbonate is present in significant amounts, it can cause the types of wrinkling and puckering, that has been reported in the Vinyl-Pool industry. Another test showed inferior resistance to abrasion, wear, light and other factors, with the off-shore vinyl-liners.
It seems that some vinyl-liner fabricators in the US are using this inferior Chinese vinyl just to complete on price! Well, you get what you pay for exactly! You must buy your vinyl-liners from a reputable liner-manufacturer. We at ParadisePoolandSpa.com buy our vinyl-pool liners from “MERLIN” Industries of Trenton, NJ. They only use the finest vinyl from North America, and they have an excellent warranty. For more information call me: Richard DeMarco at: 609-313-0300
