A Primer on Pool Walls
For Vinyl-Liner Pools
From Richard DeMarco of Paradise Pool and Spa.com llc

The following information will discuss the differences between the types of Pool-Walls for In-Ground Vinyl-Liner Pools

1. The Polymer/Plastic Pool-Wall
2. The Plain Galvanized Steel Pool-Wall
and
3. Our "POLYSTEEL" Pool-Wall!!!

It is well documented that:
All successful construction projects must start with a first rate foundation!
Be it a new house, skyscraper or an
IN-GROUND SWIMMING POOL!

The most important component in your pool is the wall!

With the Superior Pool building foundation of Rich DeMarco's ParadisePoolandSpa.com,
that's what you get, when you start with our exclusive
"POLYSTEEL" wall...by far the best Pool foundation along with our over-poured
monolithic 4000psi concrete wall support foundation-collar.

Our "POLYSTEEL" wall won't
shift, bow, bend or crack like Polymer-Plastic walls...

(see pictures of Cracked Graphex-Polymer walls below)
and it won't rust or corrode like plain galvanized steel walls.
(see pictures of Rusted Galvanived-Steel walls below)

Both pool-walls have their advantages.
Steel is Stronger, Polymer is not as strong.
Steel will not crack, bow or break.
Polymer will not rust or corrode.
steel is best for Clay or Rock Soil.
Polymer may be best for acidic soil, although acidic soil can
break down the polymer resin over time.
Steel walls are strong enough that they require less bracing.
Polymer walls need non-expansive gravel as a back-fill.
Steel walls are strong enough to back-fill with your excavated dirt.

But Our Exclusive "POLYSTEEL" walls have all the
Strength Advantages of Galvanized Steel and the
No-Rust feature of Polymer-Plastic walls.

Yes, Steel Walls are stronger than Polymer Walls...
This is especially true where the earth moves during freeze-thaw seasons.
Polymer walls have been known to bulge, crack and break at the seams.

For sheer strength steel is the material of choice.
However, Polymer-wall manufacturers will tell you their walls don't rust.

Our "POLYSTEEL" Wall is virtually impervious to cracks,
rust and corrosion!

WHY?
Because we start with the heaviest 14 gauge "Cardinal"
G235 Galvanized Steel Panels.
Then we coat the entire panel with an
electro-statically applied POLYESTER Resin.
The panels are then baked in a 400 degree oven
where the POLYESTER powder-coat is
permanently bonded to the steel panel.

This re-establishes the corrosion resistance in areas such as
skimmer cut-outs, bolt holes and cut edges
where galvanization has been compromised.

The Result...The strongest, No Rust
Pool Wall "POLYSTEEL"

WHO SAYS GALVANIZED STEEL POOL-WALLS
DON'T RUST OR CORRODE?
Galvanized steel pool-walls have agreat tendency to rust around skimmers & return inlets and other areas where holes are cut in the galvanized steel.
This is because the galvanization is compromised on the edges and where any holes are punched or cut-outs are made.
Rust can start there and then spread to other areas of the pool wall.
See the top-row center-photo where the liner hangs on the vinyl track and rust is forming at the top of the wall. this is because
there is always dampness between the vinyl-liner and the galvanized-steel pool-wall.

These are 2 cracked PACIFIC GRAPHEX Polymer Pool Walls
These pictures were taken at a pool in WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Sewell, New Jersey in March of 2002
by Richard DeMarco of Paradise Pool and Spa.com llc.
We noticed some bulging, so we pulled the liner back from the wall and discovered crackes in the Polymer-Plastic wall.
The wall was bowing or bending from ground movement over time and due to this, cracks were appearing in the Polymer Wall.
Also, the liner was getting stained from the dirt coming through the cracks.
Ok, so Polymer-plastic pool-walls don't rust, but they sure can crack!
